THE DETAILS

Base64 represents UTF-8 text as ASCII characters. Base64URL uses URL-safe characters and removes padding when encoding. Decoding accepts correct padded or unpadded input in the selected format.
Encode one value, such as a query parameter—not an entire URL. Decoding treats a plus sign as a literal plus, not a space. For example, hello world becomes hello%20world.
Conversion runs locally in your browser and input is not intentionally saved or uploaded. Encoding is reversible: it is not encryption and does not protect secrets.
